Abbott Smith Worldwide's New York office is based in Millbrook, New York, in the heart of the Hudson Valley, where David Brinkerhoff's family has lived since the 1600s. The Mary Powell was partly acquired by Captain John Brinkerhoff in 1883 to found the Mary Powell Steamboat Company. He owned his shares until his death in 1901. The Mary Powell made her last run in 1917 and was scrapped several years later amid great sentimental furor.
